Some things about me:

Julia in the tree tops, ziplining
I have a daughter, Julia, who is growing up faster than I can keep up with, who shares some of my interests and has many more of her own. I try to show her the world through travel, and I teach her to live sustainably. She's a violinist, an actress, an athelete, a cook, and a technologist.
Somewhere in Alaska
I have extensively traveled the US and the world by motorcycle. My goal is to ride on every continent excluding Antarctica. So far I have covered North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, as well as both US coasts, Hawaii, Alaska, cross-country trips and a certified Iron Butt ride.
Electric Vehicles for the EV Curious book cover by Gregory J. Hassler
I authored the book 'Electric Vehicles for the EV Curious', published in 2025. It's a definitive guide for anyone curious about electric vehicles. Learn everything you need to know to join the EV revolution. Offering real-world advice on charging, range myths, and buying, informed by over 300,000 all-electric miles and a decade of EV ownership.
1968 VW Beetle - EV Conversion in progress
I am converting a 1968 VW Beetle to an electric powertrain. My cousin performed a nut-and-bolt, body-off restoration of the car, and I am doing the electric conversion - currently in progress. I will be using the NetGain HyPer 9 System with Tesla battery modules. More updates coming soon as the project progresses.
HomeNet Automotive - Helping Dealers Sell More Cars Online
I bring over 25 years of automotive industry experience, having worked in and with automotive dealerships and co-founding a tech startup, HomeNet Automotive, where I was a key figure in developing software for automotive inventory management and marketing. I acted as both CTO and COO for the company which grew from two people in a garage to over 150-strong. Helping transition dealers into the era of the internet, I would speak at 20 Groups to explain the world of automotive digital marketing in its earliest days. HomeNet was recognized by Inc. Magazine on its Inc. 5000 list, which recognizes the fastest-growing private companies in the United States, and was Top 10 in 2010 Companies to Watch by AutoSuccess Magazine. The systems I developed became the largest system of its kind, processing over 80% of the data of all vehicles for sale online in the US, leading to an acquisition by Autotrader.com / Cox Automotive who needed a reliable and scalable inventory processing technology, where HomeNet was already performing a large part of their needs.
Atlis Motor Vehicles - Electric without compromise
My pivotal professional shift to electric vehicles came with my role at EV startup Atlis Motor Vehicles, where I served as EVP of Business Operations, building the company from the ground up while guiding the company's engineering and market strategies. Atlis Motor Vehicles, a prospective electric pickup truck manufacturer, set out to tackle the hardest problems of EV range and fast charging, taking a 'no compromises' approach to design, pushing the edge of what was possible at the time. With a small team, Atlis created a fast-charging battery system that achieved a full charge in under 13 minutes. We created a modular electric skateboard platform prototype, adaptable to a wide range of medium-duty and heavy-duty truck applications, carrying sufficient battery capacity to achieve a real-world 500 mile range. I also established relationships with suppliers and other industry partners, and surveyed potential customers to identify specific use cases, and worked on a government startup initiative where the applications for electric military vehicles were explored.
Trifecta Solar - Harness the Power of the Sun
I joined Trifecta Solar in August 2025 to lead growth and operations focused on solar and battery storage deployments for homes and businesses. Trifecta's mission is to accelerate practical electrification - pairing quality solar PV, storage, and EV charging. I'll be driving process excellence, supplier and partner relationships, and customer experience while scaling reliable installations.
DLI Commercial - Commercial Construction and Facilities Maintenance
I worked with DLI Commercial for 6 years, a commercial construction and facilities maintenance company started by a business partner of mine. As the first full-time employee, I applied my expertise in business operations to grow the company into a burgeoning enterprise with multiple divisions performing work for many national clients. I also became a licensed commercial contractor in numerous states.
These panels on my garage are part of the 17kW solar system on my house.
I am an ardent proponent of electric vehicles and renewable energy. I live free of fossil fuels, having electrified everything in my household including the riding lawn mower, fireplaces, appliances, and heaters, while also driving electric cars and riding electric motorcycles - all of which are powered by the solar panels on my roof. I have driven over 300,000 miles on electric power since 2013. I am proud to say that I no longer directly burn any form of fossil fuels in my life.
One chamber of the hydroponic greenhouse in Caguas, Puerto Rico
I owned and operated a hydroponic farm in Caguas, Puerto Rico called Agroproductos del Turabo. In addition to financing the farm, I also project managed the construction of the greenhouse facility from 1,600 miles away and ran business operations. The farm was producing romaine lettuce for the island. The facilities were later destroyed by hurricane Maria, after which we rebuilt the project. I later exited the business, turning it over to my partner in PR.
My Lotus Elise and Porsche 911 at the first Supercars on State Street car show
I am a nationally trained high-performance driving instructor for the Porsche Club of America, instructing with the Riesentöter Region. I have trained dozens of drivers in high performance driving dynamics and vehicle control in race track and autocross environments, including both in-car and classroom teaching. I've also raced in autocross events, and trained teen drivers in the Tire Rack Street Survival driving school.
I am #824, racing at New Jersey Motorsports Park
I've trained motorcyclists in Pennsylvania as an instructor with the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program (PAMSP) course using the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum. I taught the Basic RiderCourse (BRC), Basic RiderCourse 2 (BRC2), and the Advanced RiderCourse (ARC). I've raced motorcycles on road-racing tracks up and down the east coast, raced off-road enduros, and trained in flat track, motocross, and trials riding.
Drive through tree in Leggett, CA
I am one of the very few people who have crossed the United States riding an electric motorcycle, doing so in July 2020 with my then 10-year-old daughter on the back of my Zero Motorcycles DS. I have a website dedicated to the planning and the trip (based on the book "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance").
A view of my Lotus in the parking lot from the air while I was flying solo.
I have over 60 hours flying fixed-wing aircraft including Cessna 152's & 172's, Piper Tomahawks, and Piper Warriors. I flew mostly out of the Brandywine (KOQN) and New Garden (N57) airports. I have done 2 solo cross-country flights in preparation for my private pilot's license, though I never completed it. One day I will.
My Porsche 911 C2S near the top of Stelvio Pass in Italy
I won a Porsche 911 Carrera 2S in a raffle back in 2008. I ended up picking up the new car from the Porsche factory in Stuttgart, Germany, while getting a factory tour. Within 20 minutes of leaving the factory I was driving the Autobahn at over 120 mph, and drove through 6 countries over the next 10 days, finding the best mountain roads and views Europe has to offer, eventually having it shipped to the US.

I am a martial artist, and 5th degree black belt (Godan) in Shorinjiryu karate with the Zentokukai organization. I have also cross-trained in Aikido (for 6 years), Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Krav Maga, Tang Soo Do, and other fighting arts. I've fought in Jiu-Jitsu competitions and MMA cage fighting competitions. Karate is my core, and the other arts broaden my perspective and sharpen specific applications.
EVSE that I built mounted to my garage wall
I've custom-built five Wi-Fi enabled EVSE electric vehicle charging units (with both J1772 and NACS plugs) for my garages to charge my electric vehicles, based on the OpenEVSE platform. I have also coded a custom web-based application to operate and manage them centrally. I use the chargers daily to charge my vehicles.
Stylesheet code for the page you are looking at right now
I have been a fluent programmer in many languages including HTML, CSS and JavaScript for front-end web development, ASP, PHP, and Node.js for server side, and Visual Basic 4-6 for desktop applications. Today coding is a hobby, not my profession. I hand-coded this fully W3C validated website without the use of libraries.
I occasionally shoot random videos for my YouTube channel.
